10 DLC Registration

Register your 10-digit US phone number under 10DLC so carriers don’t filter your appointment reminders.

Mobile Carriers in the US (namely AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon) have started requiring that all 10-digit phone numbers (10DLC) that are used to send Text messages be properly registered in order to avoid filtering. 10DLC registration allows the Carriers to know exactly who is sending Text messages to their subscribers. In turn, this helps reduce SPAM messages to consumers.

There is good and bad news that comes with this. The bad news is that if you want to send text messages to customers, you have to follow carrier regulations. It doesn’t matter if you use Apptoto or another service. Everyone in the industry has to follow the same rules, or else their SMS messages will get blocked. The good news is that it will keep your text messaging channel safe and SPAM-free and your messages will not get filtered by carriers.

What you need

Before starting, gather the following from your W9 or company tax registration document:

  • Business name
  • Business address
  • Website URL
  • Federal EIN (Employer Identification Number)

Registering your 10DLC Brand/Number in Apptoto

  1. To begin registering your brand within Apptoto, you will navigate to Settings >Caller IDs.

  2. Then select “Add Standard Brand (Admin),” and follow the prompts on the screen, and fill out all of the information that is requested:

  3. Follow the prompts on the screen, and fill out all of the information that is requested:

  4. If your account already has an old starter brand, you can convert that to a paid brand by simply clicking on the “Convert to Paid Brand” button on the Caller IDs tab:

  5. Submit your 10DLC registration. Once submitted, it will go through a vetting process with a 3rd party, which can take up to 2-4 weeks to complete (although it typically takes much shorter). Then, the brand will be active within Apptoto.

Sole proprietors

If you are a sole proprietor, you will be asked for your mobile number during registration. The mobile phone number must be correct and a mobile phone number you have access to. A text saying, “Please confirm your registration for US A2P Messaging by replying YES. Msg & data rates may apply.” will be sent to this number during the process. You must reply YES within 24 hours.

Free trial accounts

During a free trial, Apptoto automatically assigns a 10DLC-compliant number. Once you subscribe, complete the 10DLC registration for your business number. Apptoto keeps you on the trial number until your registration is approved, then switches automatically.
